Unlimited continuation – higher time limits – short-term employees

According to a current draft bill, it is planned that the higher time limits for short-term employment relationships that have been in effect (on a transitional basis) since 2015 will – contrary to the original plans – continue to apply for the years starting in 2019.

After that employment is

regularly exempt from social insurance if the activity is limited from the outset to no more than 3 months (in the case of full weekly working hours) or 70 working days (in the case of fewer than 5 working days per week).

These time limits are now to apply indefinitely.

(For further comments and information, please see our Information Letter 11/2018).
